The flag of couture goes on half mast today as the one of the fashion’s real Masters dies. Tragically, Alexander (Lee) McQueen as you may already know was found dead in his home earlier today.
Artificialife wont spill all the beans on the whole story, thats not what we do here though it was clear his soul made cries for help via subsequent tweets as seen below; its hard to see another young master taken before his time.
Enough of that, as we’re all about the good news! Lee McQueen wasn’t born privileged like so many other designers and elitists out there. This was a bloke from London, East London, Hackney to be exact. And if you know of the Hackney I know, it doesn’t compare so badly to the Hackney he grew up in!
As a man who really discovered and knew his deep purpose in life he soon became an apprentice tailor in Saville Row, selected AT AGE 16 . His talent was always there! And that was I driving force to joining one of the world’s premier and most prestigious Art & Fashion colleges Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where his time with us began! His entire graduation collection was bought by influential fashion stylist Isabella Blow, who became and was a key figure in the launching of his career – pursuading his to use the pseudonym Alexander and started working as Head Designer for Givenchy!
Alexander McQueen was born and was quickly sucked in to the ever terrible Cool Britannia (along with Blur, Oasis, the Spice Girls and designers Galliano and McCartney) but even after quickly shaking that off Alexander McQueen was one of l’enfant terribles with Hirst & Emin.
With that awfulness over, Alexander launched Alexander McQueen & McQ and then brought you (in the words of Ciara)…
Love
Sex
Magic
RIP Alexander (Lee) McQueen, Long live McQueen!
