Classic Car Photography by Ken Brown
May 2011 01

Here is a series of great photography by Ken Brown.  Brown was always attracted to restored classic cars since his childhood, where his family was dedicated collecting and preserving of vintage automobiles.

These photos pounce right out at you much stroonger than those you’ll see in modern day advertising being both emotive and cinematic with the life and silhouette of the car, coming alive from the darkness.

This collection features many of the legendary cars of history spanning from the 1930′s to the 60s. What fascinates me looking the entire collection is what I hadn’t noticed before; these cars all represent the hopes and dreams of thier era entirely… think about it, let me know your thoughts if you want!? x

I found this one quite a long time ago but never got round to posting it because of much of the other stuff I’ve been working on in my absence from Artificialife. But I thought that it was still worth a look at and mainly because i’ve not stopped looking at his work since i first saw it. The artist Andrew Yee exclaims that his work is “Classically beautiful with a modern twist,” which is up my street. I’ll let you place your own judgements.

Pirelli 2012 calender speculation
May 2011 01

With speculation growing about the Pirelli 2012 calender growing and with photographer Steven Meisel famed for shooting for Madonna’s book 992 book Sex in the early 90′s and model Anna Selezneva‘s being attached to it, I thought that I’d post images from the last 2011 addition (which I didn’t get to post before but is probably hanging on a wall of someone you know.

KAWS for The Standard Hotels
Feb 2011 03

Some of you might have already seen this? But hey, the deserved home for this kinda work is right here. I will be first to say that in recent years I haven’t been a massive fan of KAWS, forgive me for saying it but I’ve always found his work a little too easy for his own ability and it begun to churn out everywhere.

This however, is different. The Brooklyn based artist has gone all flashy and made one of the most difficult things I can imagine. I think I need one and I’ll be visiting Standard Hotel and online to see if I can get one shipped. All I can say is well done. And if there are any kleptomaniacs nearby the retail stores who fancy doing me a favor?… well you get the idea.

Lagoi & Lace
Feb 2011 03

Interesting and fresh photography by  Ralph Lagoi & Kate Lace. The are another set of geniuses/genii who graduated from Academy of media Arts in Cologne, Germany.

Quite obviously since then the’ve worked really well together. Look at that staging, use of colour, light shadow, props, the lot of it.

My guess is that this duo is going to outta space. And quickly!
