Brooklyn-based artist William Powhida, I’ve been told, has just finished a drawing for the cover for the September issue of the Brooklyn Rail. As a Londoner I cant pretend that I’m all to familiar with the magazine or its significance but the website sure looks like good reading so I’ll be looking out for it.

The show has pitted art critics against each other since it first aired. Paddy Johnson, in a plea for an end to the bickering on her blog Art Fag City, summarizes some of the key questions that the show has prompted, “Is Work of Art an accurate reflection of the art world? Does it perpetuate myths? Is art sacred?”

                          

Allow me to explain, Made With Rest seem have evolved on a line of philosophy in shoe design. These guys have used a classic silhouette and made it stand out for today. And because I hate dressing like I’m rewinding into the nineteenth centry (let alone the twentieth – which I think is killing fashion) these make me happy. I’m all about dressing in the future with learnings from the past. Thanks Made With Rest!!

Its like the perfect kind of mix of fringe mixed with business mind-set that I look for in any literature I put my valuable time aside to focus on. It’s not a guide to corporate anarchism – infact Hacking Work promises to highlight how to be a “benevolent hacker” hooo hoo!!

Someone who achieves company goals by bending the rules of an already broken system. These actions are always intended to help the customer and the corporation.

Parra was asked to use his unique style to create a special shoe to raise money toward The Global Fund to help fight AIDS in Africa and after sold 10% of the net wholesale price will go to that fund. The name (Paint The Town) RED is both a nod to Parra’s roots in graffiti and street art, as well as the goal of creating awareness and inviting others to join (RED) in the fight against AIDS in Africa.

Parra chose to create a khaki shoe featuring a playful take on perp. In true Parra spirit, the pattern is a departure from the standard repeat print and features a more ironic version with cherries complete with legs and stiletto heels.

I wanted to incorporate the color red, and cherries came up. I wanted to go for a kind of preppy look, but I didn’t want it to be so serious, so I incorporated the cherry character!

Being one of the most stand-out and iconic kicks worn throughout the decades by bombers (streetartists) and other kind of beatniks the Chuck Taylors provided a perfect muse for the project. Each shoe is totally unique and is held together by these iced outsole with a paint brush stroke – which is exactly why I need one!

The Parra Chuck Taylor silhouette launches in Foot Patrol and Dover Street Market (London) this week at the RRP of £89.99.

This guy Mike Giant is a cult legend – I cant say I heard of him before i saw this elsewhere though. Anyway cleverly Italian cycling co. Cinelli has collab’d with Giant to create of what he does best on these new Ram 2 drop bars. They’re limited edition and although I couldn’t find the actually designed bars on the tinternet I found the Ram 2′s here.

                          

But this is for real though. I’ve fantasised about getting these for 21 years now and maybe, just maybe, finally I might be able to get  pair in 2015 – I’m first in the cue. BTW if you dont know these trainers (sneakers) are from the best film of all time shame on you.

I wonder if it does cool stuff with the iPhone given Apple+Nike’s close relationship?

                          

We’ve featured light paintings before and I foolishly beleived that nothing would come close to what i featured before but I think this graffiti project will give you a bit of delight. This one is by Ben Matthews who is actually by practice a dentist but clearly has a love of colour, light and superb photographic effects.

This set was produced on a skatepark (couldn’t tell you where) and features some amazing effects that I just cant get my head around how it was done. I wanna know Ben, let us know! I’m also curious to know if he worked with those brilliant guys at LAPP. Heres Ben’s Flickr Photostream for more of his sets.
